Olivia Valks – President

My name is Olivia Valks, and I am excited to be acting as the president of the LAS for the 2022/2023 school year.

In 2020, I graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, with a degree in Honours Political Science and a minor in Justice, Law & Order. My undergraduate schooling introduced me to the world of law, and I have since then been interested in pursuing a career as a lawyer. I decided to enroll in SAIT’s Legal Assistant Program before applying for law school because I wanted to expose myself to the reality of working in a law firm before making the long-term investment to pursue a legal education. I am glad I did that because I love this program, and I hope that my passion for it can be seen in the work I complete as president this year.

When I am not studying for the LSAT or serving pints at the brewery I work at, I love to paint, cook, and exercise. I also love almost all genres of music; I promise you will find me and my friends in the crowd of major music festivals in Canada. I look forward to meeting and working alongside all of you this year!
