Olivia Valks – President

My name is Olivia Valks, and I am excited to be acting as the president of the LAS for the 2022/2023 school year.
In 2020, I graduated from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, with a degree in Honours Political Science and a minor in Justice, Law & Order. My undergraduate schooling introduced me to the world of law, and I have since then been interested in pursuing a career as a lawyer.
I decided to enroll in SAIT’s Legal Assistant Program before applying for law school because I wanted to expose myself to the reality of working in a law firm before making the long-term investment to pursue a legal education. I am glad I did that because I love this program, and I hope that my passion for it can be seen in the work I complete as president this year.
When I am not studying for the LSAT or serving pints at the brewery I work at, I love to paint, cook, and exercise. I also love almost all genres of music; I promise you will find me and my friends in the crowd of many major music festivals in Canada.
I look forward to meeting and working alongside all of you this year!
Veronika Crawford – Vice President
My name is Veronika Crawford, and I am excited to be your vice president of the Legal Assistant Society for the 2022/2023 school year.
I decided to enroll in the SAIT Legal Assistant Program after many years of watching crime and law shows; I decided that it seemed like law was something I wanted to be involved in. I look forward to having a career I am passionate about and enjoy. My favourite class I have taken so far is Real Estate Law I.
In my spare time I enjoy bingeing the latest Netflix series and hanging out with friends.

Sarah Davis – Treasurer

Hi, my name is Sarah Davis! I am excited to be the treasurer of the Legal Assistant Society for the 2022/2023 academic year.
I became interested in law when I was younger, but I was unsure about which career path in the field I was interested in, so I decided to try out SAIT’s Legal Assistant Program. It has been super awesome, and I am able to pursue my passion while exploring the city and the mountains.
I have a Chihuahua Jack Russel Terrier Mix named Herman, my favourite show is New Girl, and I really enjoy going out and meeting new people. I am looking forward to meeting everyone in the LA program this year, and I am excited to see what this academic year holds for us.
Amaka Elezie – Secretary
Hello, my name is Amaka Elezie! I am a second year legal assistant student and the secretary of the Legal Assistant Society for the 2022/2023 academic year.
Some of my hobbies are reading, swimming, baking, and singing. I have a special love and passion for the legal field, which is why I fell in love with this program and have been in love ever since. The goal is to become a lawyer someday soon; as soon as I jump the hurdle that is the LSAT.
I look forward to seeing your wonderful faces on campus, and I hope we all have an amazing year.

Rheagan Quigg – Event Planner

Hi! I’m Rheagan Quigg, and I am a second year, legal assistant student. I am the club even coordinator for the 2022/2023 school year.
I have always had an affinity for planning events even if it is just a dinner out or a whole New Year’s bash; I am a very social person.
I also love reading and am working on my debut novel whenever I get a chance. I love anything Disney and fashion-related. I am almost always dressed up and coordinated. I love to cook, bake, and bartend. Basically, anything that involves a recipe and ingredients of any sort. I also love going to concerts, listening to music, and traveling.
I am looking forward to coordinating some awesome events. Don’t hesitate to say hello to me in the hallways!
Alyssa Gibson – Volunteer Coordinator
My name is Alyssa Gibson, and I am excited to be a part of the Legal Assistant Society as the volunteer coordinator for the 2022/2023 school year.
I graduated from the University of Calgary in 2021, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy. I was originally planning on continuing my philosophy education with a masters and doctoral; however, in my second last year I took a course that specialized in philosophy logic in law. Since then, I have been inspired to pursue a career in law. I am unsure about the exact law career I want, so I decided to enroll in the Legal Assistant Program to dip my toes into the world of law.
I currently work at a law firm and have been inspired to take the LSAT and further use my philosophy degree, but as of right now the books look really pretty on my shelf… so who knows.
In my free time I enjoy cooking, working on my podcast, and skateboarding.

Scott Steneker – Marketing Team

Hello! My name is Scott Steneker, and I am one half of the marketing team of the Legal Assistant Society for the 2022/2023 academic year.
I ended up in the SAIT Legal Assistant Program because I knew I wanted a career in law, but I didn’t know what that might actually look like. Before heading down the long academic and career road of becoming a lawyer, I thought it would be nice to get a little taste of the legal world to see if it truly is the place for me.
Besides my interest in law, I compose music for films and series as my day job, I play in a couple bands, and I love reading, yoga, and video games. Hope to see you around campus!
Christa Hylton – Marketing Team
Hi! My name is Christa Hylton and I am the other half of the marketing team.
I was originally pursuing a degree in social work with the intention of a career in mental health policy. However, after learning about SAIT’s Legal Assistant Program, I knew a career that blended client-facing advocacy with law and policy was the path for me.
In my free time I enjoy practicing yoga, playing cozy video games, and spending time with my rabbit, Lacie. If you ever need a bunny pic to make your day better, message me!
